Teamwork in Action: Building More Than Just a Shelter

The day begins with the camp facilitators taking stock of their various tools. The children are encouraged to start exploring the Rising Fields. On this day, the children, seeing the facilitators setting up tarps with stakes and beginning to prepare for the campfire, came back to offer to help.

The children were excited to help with the preparations and quickly learned how to set up the tarps. Then, some of the children went to gather sticks for firewood.

Friends playfully gather on one corner of the camp tarp, having a great time together. Laughter and smiles abound as they engage in fun activities, enjoying each other's company. Their playful energy brings a lively and joyful atmosphere to the campsite, creating lasting memories of friendship and adventure.

The facilitators were trained in recognizing emergent interests in the group, and they quickly realized that the children were interested in the campfire. So they decided to lead a lesson on fire safety using the book "Fiery Fox."

A student eagerly presents a branch to the facilitator for inspection, while a friend watches attentively. Both the student and the friend display curiosity and anticipation, engaging in a moment of learning and exploration in the natural environment.

Friends gather in a circle around the pit they have prepared for the campfire, eagerly awaiting the next step. Their faces filled with anticipation and excitement. The pit is ready, and soon they will add the sticks they collected to fuel the fire.
